British Drinking Culture! πŸ₯‚

It’s a well-known stereotype that we
Brits love to drink and by drink we mean *drink* drink! Beer, wine, cider, spirits, bubbly… you name it we can down it but where did this reputation even come from
and more importantly is it true? Well you only have to watch Brits abroad to see
that we definitely drink for different reasons than many of our European
friends in Spain Greece and France people seem to drink alongside food
contributing to an experience which is enjoyed with friends but in the UK
people seem to drink with the sole aim of getting drunk. Drunk, wasted, pissed,
trashed these are some of the words you’ll hear Brits refer to themselves as
when stumbling out of a club at 3:00am The legal age for drinking in the
UK is fairly complicated you have to be 18 in order to buy alcohol from a shop
or a bar but if you’re 16 or 17 you are legally allowed to have beer, wine or
cider with a meal as long as you’re accompanied by an adult and it’s bought
by an adult. But not spirits, it’s illegal for 16 or 17 year olds have spirits because
that make sense! Yeah if you’re between the ages of 5 and 16 though you
can legally drink alcohol at home that’s right as long as you’re 6 years old
you can drink alcohol at home legally although the government do recommend
that an alcohol-free childhood is the healthiest and best option. So perhaps
this is why Brits drink more heavily than other countries because we start
earlier than anyone else no one quite knows the reasons why Brits love booze so much, but in terms of socialising it is a huge part of British culture. According
to alcohol concern drinks are 61 percent more affordable today than they were in
the 80s unless you live in London then you’re forced to choose between having
one cocktail on a night out or paying rent but before you assume that we Brits
are the heaviest drinkers you might be interested to know that we’re in good
company when it comes to the amount of alcohol consumed although the French
might have a civilized meal with their drink they actually drink more alcohol
per year than us so do Australians and many Eastern European countries they
just don’t stumble out of clubs vomit on the pavement and drunk called their ex! So guys thank you so much for watching that video we just thought we’d give you a
little bit of info on British culture in terms of drinking and boozing that’s a
good slang word if you want to use that boozing! We’re here at the YouTube Space
they’ve built a nightclub set the last time we were here it was in the pub video
where we were in the pub set, oh yeah that was a great video, it was! If you haven’t seen that we’ll link it up in the description below yeah hopefully this
has cleared up a bit of what it’s like in the UK in terms of drinking culture
coz we know it’s quite different where lots of you are from. Excellent so if you did enjoy the video please like and comment and share and all the things and we will
see you next time bye
