Often wine experts recommend using stemware for serving wines because wines are served cold and holding wine with hand like this, can warm your wine with your body temperature. And that kind of wine (warm wine) is not considered ideal for drinking. So let’s start. Today our first glass is Red Wine glass. This glass is bowl type glass. Due to this shape it has larger surface area that allows red wine to oxidize in presence of air thus enhancing taste of complex taste of red wine. Here we have glass for serving Pinot Noir – a red wine. Whereas several other glasses are also available in the market to serve various varieties of red wines such as Standard red wine glass, Burgundy and Bordeaux. Red wine glasses are quite expensive. Price of glasses depends on size, quality and brands of the glasses. Basic price of red wine glass starts for Rs 400/ for a pair. Today our second glass is white wine glass. The bowl of this glass is of like U alphabet and straight up. This shape preserves aroma and coldness of wine in the glass. Here we have glass for serving Souvignon Blanc. Whereas several other glasses are also available in the market to serve various varieties of white wines. They are mainly Chardonnay, Standard White wine glass and Montrachet. Similar to Red wine glasses, price of white wine glasses depends on size, quality and brands of the glasses. Basic price of white wine glass starts for Rs 400/ for a pair. Today our third glass is Sparkling wine glass. These glasses are thinner and longer than others. This shape preserves effervescences of sparkling wines. Size of this is also small like this. Here we have flute glass. This is considered ideal for serving Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and Asti. There are several other glasses are also available in the market to serve Sparkling wines apart from flute such as Tulip wine glasses and vintage coupe glass. Before we conclude this video, we would like to share few interesting informations. First we have used coloured water – food colour in water in these glasses to make this video and glasses presentable. Wine is integral part of food and culture in western countries. They serve wine like this only – small quantity. A full glass of wine like water or sherbet is never served. Here we will also share two terms associated with wines. First is wine master or Masters of Wine. That is highly reputed certification. There are almost 400 masters of wine in the whole world. This certification indicates a person has highly knowledgeable person in the field of wine. And our populated country, India having 1.3 billion people has got one Masters of wine. In fine dining, Sommelier often assists you for selecting wine with a particular kind of food or an occasion. That helps a person to select correct wine pairing.
